My name is Karel Zídek and I live in Brno in Czech Republic.
As a student, I finished my studies of Automation Control and Informatics with specialization in Graphics and its applications at Mendel University in Brno with a master of science in engineering degree. Subsequently, I worked at Mendel University at Department of Informatics as a member of Spatial Hub and Infrastructure teams. My own research was focused on the field of user experience design, computer vision, detection of traffic signs, machine learning, and object detection within point cloud. In addition, I was also teaching Basics of Object Oriented Design, C++ Programming Language, Computer Graphics II courses and part of the lectures and exercises in the Parallel Programming course.
As a developer, I work as a Software Design Engineer. I focus on C++, OpenGL, OpenCV, image processing and graphical applications. I’m also interested in microcontrollers like Raspberry Pi and Arduino.
As an artist, I create mostly illustrations and concept art. Although I’m creating mostly digitally, using tools like Clip Studio Paint EX, Rebelle, and Autodesk Sketchbook, my favorite tools are fountain pens. With their help, I fill sketchbooks, that I have always on hand.
As a designer, I focus mainly on user interface design but I also design logos, business cards, posters, invitations and various promotional materials. I work with modern tools such as Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and PagePlus X9, to whom I switched from Adobe products.
